Backup & Settings

Barnsbook™ gives you full control over your data, your app layout, and your account. Access all settings from More > Settings. Here's what you can configure.

Profile Setup

Tap your name at the top of the More screen or go to Settings > Profile to set up or update your personal and business information:

• Full name — appears on reports and exports
• Farm or business name — used in report headers and documents
• Contact details — for reference and export metadata

iCloud Backup & Sync

Barnsbook stores all your data locally on your device. To protect against data loss if your device is lost, damaged, or replaced, enable iCloud Backup in Settings. When enabled:

• Your farm data is backed up to your personal iCloud account
• The backup is managed by Apple, not Barnsbook — your data stays private
• If you get a new device, sign in with the same Apple ID and restore from iCloud to get all your data back
• Multiple devices signed in to the same Apple ID automatically sync data through iCloud

iCloud Backup is available on all plans, including the free tier. Enable it as soon as you start using the app so you're protected from day one.

Data Export Pro

With a Pro subscription, you can export your farm records as CSV files from More > Compliance & Reports > Export Data. Exported files can be opened in Excel or Numbers, shared with your accountant, or imported into other software. Export options include livestock records, health records, expense records, and more.

Customize Tabs

The Barnsbook tab bar shows six tabs by default, but you can customize which tabs appear. Go to Settings > Customize Tabs to rearrange the tab bar to match how you actually use the app. If you spend most of your time in breeding and health records, you can put those front and center rather than burying them in the More menu.

Calendar Settings Pro

With a Pro subscription, enable calendar integration in Settings > Calendar Settings. When active, Barnsbook creates events in your device calendar for upcoming vaccinations, breeding due dates, calving watch dates, equipment maintenance reminders, and any tasks with due dates. This lets you see farm events alongside your personal calendar in Apple Calendar or any calendar app on your device.

App Lock

Enable App Lock in Settings to require Face ID or Touch ID every time Barnsbook opens. This protects your farm and financial records if someone else picks up your phone. Biometric data is handled by your device's secure enclave and is never accessible to Barnsbook.

Subscription Management

Your Barnsbook subscription is managed through Apple. To view your current plan, upgrade, downgrade, or cancel, go to Settings on your iOS device, tap your Apple ID, then Subscriptions, and find Barnsbook. You can also tap Restore Purchases in the Barnsbook Settings screen if you've upgraded on another device and want to restore access on a new one.

Clearing Data

If you ever need to start over, Settings includes an option to clear all data from the app. This is permanent and cannot be undone — make sure you have an iCloud backup or CSV export before using this option.

App Version and Updates

The current app version is shown at the bottom of the Settings screen. Updates are delivered through the App Store. Enable automatic app updates in your iOS Settings to always have the latest features and fixes.

Multiple Currencies

All financial features — expenses, revenue, invoices, reports, and forecasts — display amounts in your selected currency. Go to Settings → Currency to change it at any time. The app supports 95+ currencies organized by region:

• Americas — USD, CAD, MXN, BRL, ARS, CLP, COP, PEN, UYU, CRC, DOP, GTQ, JMD, TTD
• Europe — EUR, GBP, CHF, SEK, NOK, DKK, PLN, CZK, HUF, RON, BGN, HRK, RSD, UAH, RUB, GEL, TRY, ISK
• Middle East — AED, SAR, QAR, KWD, BHD, OMR, JOD, ILS, EGP, IQD, LBP
• South Asia — INR, PKR, BDT, LKR, NPR
• East & Southeast Asia — JPY, CNY, KRW, TWD, HKD, SGD, MYR, IDR, PHP, THB, VND, MMK, KHR
• Central Asia — UZS, KZT, KGS, TJS, TMT, AZN, AMD
• Oceania — AUD, NZD, FJD
• Africa — ZAR, NGN, KES, GHS, TZS, UGX, ETB, MAD, XOF, XAF, RWF, MZN, BWP, MUR, ZMW

When you change the currency, all existing records, reports, and invoices update to display in the new currency symbol and format. No data is lost — only the display changes.

Currency is a display preference, not a conversion. If you switch from USD to EUR, a $100 expense will show as €100. For actual currency conversion, use your bank or accounting software.
