Health & Vaccinations

Keeping accurate health records is one of the most critical parts of livestock management. Barnsbook™ gives you a complete health record system — vaccinations, treatments, vet visits, medication tracking, and withdrawal dates — all stored on your device and available offline.

Health Records

Access Health Records from More > Farm Management. You can log health events for individual animals or a group. Each health record captures:

• Event type — vaccination, treatment, vet visit, deworming, injury, illness, or procedure
• Date — when the event occurred
• Diagnosis or condition — what you observed or what the vet found
• Medication or vaccine given — linked to your medicine cabinet
• Dosage and route — amount given and how it was administered
• Next due date — for recurring treatments and booster vaccines
• Vet or technician — who performed the procedure
• Notes — any additional details or observations

Health records are available on all plans, including the free tier. You can log unlimited health events regardless of subscription level.

Medicine Cabinet

The Medicine Cabinet (More > Farm Management) is your central inventory of medications and vaccines. Add each product you use with:

• Product name — commercial name and active ingredient
• Medication type — antibiotic, vaccine, antiparasitic, hormone, or supplement
• Dosage information — default dose per weight unit
• Meat withdrawal period — days until the animal can be sold for slaughter
• Milk withdrawal period — days until milk can be sold (for dairy animals)
• Quantity on hand — track your stock levels
• Expiry date — get reminded before medications expire

Withdrawal Date Tracking

When you log a treatment using a medication from your medicine cabinet, Barnsbook automatically calculates the withdrawal date — the first date the animal can be legally sold for meat or its milk sold. The Withdrawal Tracker (also accessible from the More menu) shows all animals currently under withdrawal so you know exactly which ones cannot be sold yet.

Always verify withdrawal periods with your veterinarian. Regulations vary by country and medication.

Treatment Reminders

When you set a "next due date" on a health record, Barnsbook adds it to your task list and can send you a push notification when the date approaches. You'll see upcoming vaccinations and treatments in the Dashboard action items and the Farm Calendar.

AI Health Anomaly Detection Premium

With a Premium subscription, Barnsbook's Health Anomalies AI analyzes your health records to detect patterns — animals with unusually frequent treatments, rising medication costs for specific conditions, or seasonal health trends across your herd. AI Vaccine Scheduler Premium

The Vaccine Scheduler (More > AI Tools) uses your herd's health history, species, age, and your location to generate recommended vaccination schedules. It suggests which vaccines are due and when, based on what has already been given and standard protocols for your animal types.
