BarnsBook is free to start and stays free for a small operation. Pro and Premium are optional subscriptions. This page follows the in-app Compare Plans screen.

Everything else in the “Free” column of the table below has no limit: health records and vaccines, breeding and calving records, weights, feed logs and the medicine cabinet, tasks and calendar, EID lookup and chute sessions, and document storage.
- Only animals with the status Active count toward the 15, so animals you mark Sold or Deceased free up room.
- When you reach a limit the add button opens the upgrade screen (animals, pastures, equipment) or a “Limit Reached” message (expenses). Nothing you already entered is deleted or locked.
- If you join someone else's ranch with an invite code, the free limits do not apply to that ranch: the owner's plan covers it. Creating your own additional ranches still follows your plan.

Annual billing is about 33% cheaper than paying monthly. The upgrade screen shows the price from the App Store for your country, which can differ from the US prices above. New subscribers get a 14-day free trial (the App Store decides who is eligible); the subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.

What Pro adds
- Unlimited animals, pastures, equipment and expenses, and multiple ranches.
- Receipt scanning and bank-statement import when you enter an expense.
- Certifications and preconditioning cards, USDA compliance records, vendor management, and the forage calculator (dry matter and carrying capacity).
- CSV export, PDF reports, farm reports (income, expense and revenue breakdowns) and tax reports (Schedule F, P&L).
Crops and field records, equipment maintenance, feed inventory, the medicine cabinet and the withdrawal tracker are on every plan, including Free.
What Premium adds
- Daily AI farm briefing and the ranch assistant (AI chat about your own data).

Manage, restore and cancel
Subscriptions are bought and billed through your Apple ID and the App Store, not through BarnsBook.
- Restore Purchases is on the upgrade screen and in Settings. Use it on a new device with the same Apple ID.
- Manage Subscription in Settings opens your App Store subscriptions, where you can switch between monthly and annual or cancel. Cancelling keeps your plan until the end of the paid period.
- Refunds are handled by Apple.
