Invite someone Premium

Owners need Premium to invite people. The people they invite do not need a plan: joining is free and the owner's plan covers the ranch.

1
Open More → Team and tap Add Team Member.
2
Optionally type who the code is for (for example a first name) and choose a role.
3
Tap Copy or Share. The share message carries a link and the steps to join. A code is valid for 7 days.

A ranch can have up to 5 team members besides the owner. Pending invites are listed on the Team screen, and you can change a member's role or remove them at any time.

Join a ranch

1
Install BarnsBook and open it. Tap the link you were sent, or open More → Join a Ranch (or use the invite code link on the setup screen).
2
Enter the code and your name so the owner knows who joined.
3
Tap Join Ranch. You need an internet connection to join.

Your own ranch and records stay on your phone. Switch between ranches any time from More → Ranches. To step away, open Team and choose Leave This Ranch; that stops sharing the ranch on your phone and leaves your own records alone.

Roles

RoleCan do
OwnerFull access to all ranch data; manage team members and roles; delete the ranch; generate invite codes.
ManagerFull access to all ranch data; manage team members (except the owner); generate invite codes. Cannot delete the ranch or remove the owner.
WorkerAdd and edit animal, pasture and task records. Cannot see expenses, sales or other money data, cannot delete records and cannot manage the team.
ViewerRead-only access. Cannot add, edit or delete records or manage the team.

For workers, the money screens (Finances, Expenses, Revenue, Vendors, Tax & Deductions and the financial analytics) are hidden, and the server does not send them those records.

How team sync works

A ranch that has a team syncs through BarnsBook's servers so everyone sees the same records. BarnsBook syncs when it opens, when it comes back to the foreground, when your connection returns and about every five minutes. Between syncs, and with no signal, you keep working on your own copy and the changes go up when you are back online. Photos and attachments are not uploaded.

Ranches that do not have a team do not use BarnsBook's servers for sync. On iPhone, iPad and Mac they use iCloud instead. See Backup, sync & settings.

Multiple ranches Pro

More → Ranches lists your ranches. Tap add and enter a name, address, farm type and acreage; you can set the location from your current position or look it up from the address. Set a default ranch, switch the active one with the ranch switcher, and edit or delete ranches. Deleting a ranch does not delete the animals, expenses or other records that were associated with it. The free plan has one ranch.
